The whole of last night and until this morning, I lay awake all the time, shutting my eyes but I just could not fall asleep. Perhaps my mind was too active from reading a book in MPH plus the fact that I am enriching my vocabulary by trying to remember difficult words which I come across in the newspapers. Since I could not sleep, I naturally went downstairs to begin blogging at about 6:00am. My dad thinks that I have paid posts to do, but far from it. I have given up hope of doing paid posts anymore and have ventured into writing articles for lower payment. Not as lucrative as paid posts previously but it is still moolah in my Paypal. Now I am feeling groggy and less alert.

I don’t believe in buying shares and to speculate. I have seen too many people getting burnt due to high investment in shares. My aunt invested S$2.5 million and it was reduced to S$500,000. My mother lost a lot of money in shares and my dad lost the amount of 2 proton wiras. My mum max out the limit and used my name to buy more shares in the past. Similarly, unit trusts are a group of shares managed by other people for you.

As a habit, I normally put my money in Fixed Deposits (FD) at 3.7% per annum. Though it is less profit, but you will never lose your capital and gain the 3.7% extra at the end of the year. This year alone, I lost RM4,000 within 6 months after my dad instigated me to buy unit trusts saying I will definitely earn more money than FD. His greed for more money make me lose more as a result of investing RM$30,000 taken out from my FD. First of all, I had to pay for the manager’s fees at 5.5% totaling about RM1,650. This is a loss in capital already. The next few months my unit trusts drop below what I invested in and cause a further loss of about RM2,500. I have had enough! So, I sold off all of it at a loss of about RM4,000 and put back into FD. That’s the lesson I had to pay for listening to my dad who had sold a semi-detached house to play shares. His RM200k were reduced to RM20k in the end.

When you render favours to a friend, don’t expect anything in return. Don’t even have ulterior motive when you give favours. I hate it when people demand a RM250 chinese new year hamper just for some simple favours done in the past. What the heck! And you are not even Chinese. And when you comment in my blog, you had the cheek to point out mistakes like misalignment, etc, etc. When I visited your blog, it is no better. You got your side bar truncated as well. You see the dust in people but is blind to the stumbling block in your eyes. So, I rather you don’t visit my blog and get jealous of the food pictures and hotel stays that I get, because this is my very own blog and I am at liberty to post whatever I like.

Here are some photos taken around this season at various places to whet your appetite. I shall be going to Haadyai from tomorrow morning until the third day of Chinese New Year. In the meantime, there won’t be any blogging as I take a break. The van will come and pick us up at around 6:00am tomorrow to Lee Garden Hotel in Haadyai. My parents plan to get lots of cashew nuts which are cheaper there. Happy Chinese New Year to all my readers!

The above ‘kolam’ was made from fennel cloth instead of rice beads in Gurney Plaza. That’s because from previous experience, beautiful rice beads kolam tend to be destroyed by some itchy hands and feet by displacing them and mixing the colors.

Here is the real ‘kolam’ made from colored rice beads. Notice the barricade around it in the lobby of Cititel Hotel which I stayed for the weekend. Even with the barricade, already there are 2 finger prints or 2 holes on the bottom red petal of the design.

Anyway, here is to wish all my Indian readers, a Happy Deepavali!

That’s why I am going to Bangkok from tomorrow onwards for the long weekend of holidays where my sister can take longer leave.

This is one of my collection of photos taken from a trip to Port Dickson not too long ago. It is a resort that we visited for site inspection and I took the opportunity to snap some shots for posterity.

Here is another shot from the poolside view. See the turquoise swimming pool that is so inviting.

My Guess handbag carried by my boyfriend. I quietly snap this photo while he was checking on his new Nokia handphone for sms. :)

Green green grass and well kept lawn of the hotel. It leads to the beach with lots of pebbles.

Two young kids playing by the beach with their spades and pails. Their mum and a maid was nearby watching out for them.

Another view of the beach in Port Dickson.

You might be wondering what those two terms above mean. Well, Eschatology is defined as the study of events on earth that leads to the establishment of God’s final kingdom. On the other hand, missiology is the study of strategies and initiatives that determines the final population of God’s kingdom.

Hence, Eschatology + Missiology = Our Destiny.

Basically, a kingdom requires a king, a territory and subjects. What happens when you have a king, subjects but no territory? A refugee camp!

God established himself a kingdom through creation. Adam and Eve were the first man and woman God created. When Eve sinned, Adam suffered from temporary lapse of judgement. Afterall, it was Eve who asked Adam to taste the forbidden fruit and hence, it was woman who sinned. Interesting eh?

Buildium, LLC is the best online property management software provider for landlords, professional property managers, self-managed condos and homeowner associations (HOAs). Which just reminds me, I am still on the lookout for good property to buy for investment. Just the other day, I went to view a unit in Gurney Park for RM320k for only 700+ square feet. It is very small but convenient and next to Gurney Plaza. Gurney Park is the cheapest home along Gurney Drive which is the millionaires’ row along the beach front. Though I have seen the unit, I was not impressed with the furnishings and the master bedroom floor has so much scratches that they look ugly. I am not prepared to pay that kind of hard earned money for such a small unit for my retirement home.

I am pondering should I put the bulk of money into the slow and steady FD (Fixed Deposits) or takes risks and invest in Unit Trusts which hopefully bring in more returns. Unit trusts are a group of shares managed by a fund manager. When you put your money into unit trusts, about 5% is already deducted from the principal for the fund managers. This is quite a huge amount but the proposed returns are supposed to be better. This is just a projected return. However, I feel much safer to put into FD for less but sure profit. FD return is around 3.7% a year which is not too bad. So between the two, to avoid less headache, I rather put into FD for a less but sure return.
