Tomorrow I shall be in Kuala Lumpur with my colleague to inspect a completed site project before the handover in Subang Perdana. After the handover, then only the company will get the final payment when everything is ok. I am not sure how many days I will stay there, but most likely to be 1 night in the rented condominium in Subang. Then I will be back in Penang for a while before another trip to KL on the 6th of June to meet up with the supplier from New Zealand and a meeting with a potential client.

There are other projects still ongoing in KL and will take some weeks before completion. One worker has gone back to Kuching for 1 week as his grandfather has just passed away. The other 3 are still stationed in KL while the rest are working in Penang. I was the one who booked his air fare via Air Asia’s web site and paid with my credit card. It was very easy and I just sms him his booking number and that was sufficient to see him through to Kuching from Kuala Lumpur. In fact he has arrived yesterday in Kuching before it taked another day to arrive home to his long house where his family and relatives stay.

I was in Lumut recently for a business trip meet up. Lumut is the town just across to Pulau Pangkor by sea. It is a very short distance to Pulau Pangkor, a secluded island that Joan Collins went for her honeymoon some years back in Malaysia. Here are 9 of the best photos that I have taken in this tourist town. I have also been to Pulau Pangkor by a 10-minute ferry trip some time back, also for business.

Above is a shop selling surf boards in Lumut. There’s also an oil painting on the right side for sale to the tourists.

Here is a sea view of the spanking new township and jetty to Pulau Pangkor behind the shoplots.

Another view of Lumut.

Billboard of tourist waiting room to Pangkor Laut Beach Resort with newpapers and magazines to read and coffee or tea served.

Yellow flowers and red hibiscus floating in a pot of water at the entrance of Pangkor Laut Beach Resort’s waiting room.

Colorful flowers adorn the wooden table in the waiting room of Pangkor Laut Beach Resort. This is the place where tourists can sip coffee and tea while waiting for the arrival of the ferry.

Entrance to the Public Toilet with plenty of ventilation and plants. The entrance to the toilet cost 50 cents.

Here is the view inside the public toilet in Lumut. Notice the interior decoration and fans from the ceiling.

See the exit pathway from the public toilet. The decoration is a welcoming sight.

Shelved under General, Tribute to Granny

Today I shall be going to Lumut in Perak at around 10:00am or so. My colleague will come and fetch me to Lumut to meet up with a likely client for sports courts. I have to put aside my mourning and grieving moments upon granny’s death and continue to work hard for this prosperous company. I am sure that is what granny would like me to do and granny leaves a legacy of diligence and conscientiousness in her grandchildren. Life has to go on and we have to make the best of each day. My second sister has paid for 11 prayer masses to be prayed over by the church bishop in Suchou and my dad has paid for 14 prayer masses in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. With prayer warriors for granny’s departed soul, I hope she will have a better life in heaven where there is no more suffering, weakness and slow decay of the body.

I would love to go to Hawaii in my next trip to U.S.A. There are so many Hawaiian beach condos such as Wailea Oceanfront Condo, palm trees, frangipennies, white sand, the sea and the sun that it beckons me to visit this sparkling group of islands soon. In my last trip to U.S.A, I missed out on Hawaii and went to Yosemite park instead. The tall giant trees hundreds of years old drawfs me as I look at them.

Wailea Oceanfront Condo offers so many choices, from single, deluxe, to supreme rooms to cater for the singles to couples and even for families and groups in the tour. The Wailea Oceanfront Condo offers sights of sea surfings, people strolling down the beach, children playing, couples sunbathing, and more.

You will get to see people doing all kinds of beach activities here in Hawaii. Get the souvenir colorful Hawaiian shirts or the famous macadamia nut chocolates from Hawaii. Hence, I am saving up to visit Hawaii in my next trip to the States. Though Penang is an island and not much more different than Hawaii, the culture and rich heritage over there is different.

My paternal nonagenarian granny died peacefully on 16th May 2007, a Wednesday while having dinner. As requested, we did a private and small funeral for her where only her children and both my sister and I attended her funeral the following day, before the coffin with granny’s body was sent to the crematorium. It was all over the following day that she passed away. The funeral expenses cost about RM3,000 and granny has her savings of about RM4,000. So in effect, she paid for her own funeral. I pray the now granny will rest in peace in a better world where there is no suffering and sickness or weakness. Granny died of old age, healthy to the last minute where she became weaker and weaker until she had to be spoon-fed and her adult pampers changed frequently.

Granny left a legacy to all her kids and children’s children. We are all honest working people who work hard like granny did. My beloved granny was widowed young at her late twenties or early thirties and she single-handedly brought up 4 kids by selling laksa, fish-soup salad everyday. Due to the harsh environment, granny was naturally strict with all of us. I was her favorite grandchild and she took care of me while my parents went to work to put bread and butter on the table. Even at the age of 60+, granny still cycled to Jelutong market nearby to buy fish and vegetables to cook dishes for the family. She was a good cook and after dinner, she will water the plants in the garden.

I would like to use my blog and pay tribute to this amazing woman who lived for her children and grandchildren. I have never seen another woman who is more diligent than granny herself who toiled from early in the morning till late at night. Even lying on the bed, granny will still tell me stories of how she had faced difficulty bringing up her 4 children and make sure they have proper education up to Form 5. I must say that my dad was the most successful of all her children and is her favorite filial son who faithfully visited granny in the old folks’ home and paid for her monthly expenses amounting to RM450 and then RM600 since the beginning of 2007 when granny needed more nursing help. I love you, Granny. May Eternal Rest and Peace be upon your Soul in the life after death.

On the way back from KL, we stopped by AutoCity in Juru that is visible from the North-South Highway to have our dinner. After a long distance drive, we were hungry. Here is part of the interior decoration of Swensen’s in AutoCity, Juru, Penang.

My dinner of baked rice with smoked salmon topped with cheese. Yummy! I has been a long time since I took smoked salmon, one of my favorite, as a main meal.

My friend’s selection of fish fillet with corn, vegetables and sauce. The sauce was a bit sweet though for savory dish. The fish fillet was tender and juicy with streamed vegetables.

Attractive lightings in the restaurant brighten the ambience.

Mocha which is coffee with chocolate topped with white soft cream and ice-cream. This was my friend’s dessert and beverage for the dinner.

Here is the total environment with the uniformed waitress in the background. It was cosy and Juru is a happening city with many restaurants with different themes and style located in different mansions of various designs and modern architecture built along this AutoCity.

I came back from KL late in evening 2 day ago. We also dropped by to see our clients site in Kamunting, Perak on the way back from KL. From KL we also stopped by Baskin Robbins in Tapah for ice-cream break and to stretch out our otherwise stiff legs for sitting too long in the car. This time my colleague and I stayed for 1 night only in Kuala Lumpur as we have plenty of work back in Penang. There are the logistics and transport to be arranged for the materials to be sent to Indonesia.
